When kitchen and dining sets look perfectly
Try to avoid exaggerated motley, decorating abundance, volumetric textile and massive furniture. If the kitchen is really very small or dark, then it is better to give your preference to kitchen set with smooth (without panels) and glossy foresides reflecting light. In this regard Scandinavian, minimalism and modern are the most suitable styles.
If your fridge is not built-in, then most likely it is gauzy with magnets collection… But for the sake of order feeling it is better to deny the habit to gather them. Or just leave those from them, which are really dear and memorable for you.
Light color gamma will lighten and make a small kitchen visually larger
Dark colors are not desirable in small kitchen’s interior and they are admissible only in case you have very big windows. Believe, that light color gamma will add light and feeling of space to the room.
But it is not necessary to choose white color, beige, grey, light-green, light-blue and other neutral tints will be good as basic tones.
Divide the space into zones – visually or physically
Competent zoning is the main condition for coziness and comfort.
For visual zoning you can use the following method – choose a definite color gamma and decorate both recreation and kitchen area in it, but in such a way, to have color accents of different proportions in two zones. For example, kitchen may be brighter and darker, while sitting-room or bedroom will be lighter and calmer.
Zoning with the help of parting walls or arches – this architectural method is actual, when there is still a wish to separate kitchen from living part of the room, partially or entirely.
You can make such parting wall from plasterboard, build a main wall from foam concrete blocks, set a glass compartment, or that of a French window type, or mount sliding doors.
Zoning with the help of furniture – most often common living area is divided with the help of a sofa, bar-stand or shelves.
Zoning with screens and curtains – most often this method is used in flat-studios to isolate sleeping place, but why not to divide a kitchen in such a way?
Zoning by various finishing and decoration – finishing of walls, floor or/and ceiling with different materials is sometimes necessary not only from decorative, but also from practical point of view.
For example, kitchen’s floor, covered with tile, will be far more practical, than laminate, fabricated wood block flooring and other surfaces.
